The Mortality Sequence
We hesitated at first in choosing a song, wanting to find one that felt right and, creatively, one that we could all visualise a story for. We looked at different artists including Tears For Fears (Head Over Heels, Everybody Wants To Rule The World), Guns N' Roses (Mr Brownstone, Welcome To The Jungle) and Blur (Beetlebum, Girls and Boys). A clear variety of music genres, I felt that this gave us every opportunity to find the right song to which we could start developing a story. We shortlisted Mr Brownstone, Beetlebum and The Great Gig In the Sky (henceforth known as GG) and decided that GG had the most powerful narrative that just jumped out of the music. The album had some fairly deep themes, such as greed, conflict, the passage of time, mental illness through the addiction of drugs and death. I feel that these themes could be well presented with a carefully structured narrative in the music video
