Digipak

With one of our ancillary tasks being to create a Digipak, we had to research previous designs for Digipaks, by other artists. This was simply for a broad understanding of Digipak's and to give us creative inspiration. Featuring a folded design, Digipak's are made from card, with focus on images as opposed to text. Because of Storm Thorgerson's unique album artwork for Pink Floyd, we decided there was no point in trying to recreate original images that reflected the seemingly random selection of photographs that he had used. However, as The Great Gig in the Sky is a song which features many themes, we decided to use the imagery to convey this through the album cover.

The artwork doesn't just need to be bold and exciting; we need something that relates to the themes present in our music video. This needs to have relevance to Pink Floyd, paying tribute to their collection of famous, unique album covers. Therefore, we felt the inclusion of aspects of their covers, such as the prism from The Dark Side of the Moon, would get recognition as it being a Pink Floyd product.
