Reshoots

After gaining feedback, we realised that we would need to do reshoots; one main criticism was that the music video didn't meet the messages and values that we wanted to put across. Crucial to the genre of music is the psychedelic effect that we used. We realised that we hadn't made enough of this and that to make it explicitly clear that this was a trip, we would need to add more footge and edit more using the kaleidoscopic effect in Final Cut.
We obviously need to work more on the psychedelic effect, fulfilling genre conventions about substance abuse. We didn't portray substance use eplicitly in our videos for a few reasons; firstly, we felt that this had become a bit of a cliche, heroin commonly being used in videos similar to ours. Secondly, our protagonist is in a deep state of depression and wouldn't be taking drugs because of this, which would heighten your senses and, effectively, make you happier. Despite our use of alcohol in the video, we felt we could still use the hallucinatory psychedelic effects in our video as it could reflect our protagonist's mind as he falls apart and that it would, to a degree, evoke the idea of just how distraught he is at his ordeal.

We've decided to use Greenscreen in filming some of the hallucinogenic sequences. By putting our actor in front of the screen, it would create the idea that he is falling through one of his psychedelic black holes, as if he is void of all thoughts but rage now. I expect this to be challenging as none of us have ever used Greenscreen before, although we attempted a similar effect in practicing editing at the beginning of the year. However, if we manage to do it successfully, it should present some strong images combining our actor and a main theme to our music video, the psychedelic.
